Smelling Good Could be Poisoning you, Perfumes With Poison

We all have our favorite perfume or cologne, and most of us use them on a daily basis, but what would you do if you found out that your favorite scent contained poisons deadly if consumed orally?

The FDA is not what it ever intended to be and most certainly not what it portrays itself as being. The products they allow on our shelves are sometimes banned in other countries, yet we as Americans can thank the huge corporations who have lobbied and bribed their way into our groceries and malls and are now poisoning us with almost everything we use.

Scary isn't it? Well we hate to be the bearer of bad news all the time, and can sometimes guide you towards companies that are being more ethical but this is one report you MUST read.

Stacy Malkan, a spokesperson for the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics states that "companies are allowed to put nearly any chemical into fragrances, with no required safety assessments, and they can keep the ingredient secret from the consumers". Check out her 10 Natural Beauty Tips for products that you might be able to use in substitute for the ones you use now.

One of the main chemicals in products are sensitizers which are chemicals that cause allergic reactions thus bringing on symptoms of asthma, wheezing, headaches, etc. Of course most people would just take medicine for these ailments instead of linking them to their preferred scent. We have also read that scientist found 12 different hormone disrupting chemicals and out of the following products an average of four were found in each:

-Halle, by Halle Berry
-Quicksilver
-Jennifer lopez's Glow

The tests that have be done on these chemicals do not show huge signs of reaction amongst humans, but in all reality we believe that these test should not be done. Why is our government allowing chemicals in products? Why are the American people, and people from all over, accepting that "a test concluded the chemical was safe so we consume it", our body is not made to consume chemicals. A test can show that the chemicals are safe, but in reality can we positively know the product is safe for years down the road?

Products that were once "safe" in the 60's and 70's are now known to cause cancer, so who is to say that we in 2010 are not making the same mistakes?

Use natural & organic products and this questions will not be an issue and if our government would demand that the FDA make companies be more honest with their practices we might not even have to second guess the products that claim to be natural & organic.
