Fasting, the misconception of it and the MANY benefits

Fasting, one of the most amazing remedies for every type of ailment known to man not to mention an amazing preserver of overall good health. Fasting is correctly defined as the complete abstinence from all types of food or just one type of food, but we will be talking about all food.

Contrary to the perception that fasting is unhealthy it is actually a wonderful 'treat' for the body to heal, relax, and focus on itself. Amazingly this rare phenomenon in humans is second nature to almost every animal on Earth who instinctively avoid food and consume only water to ease pain, alleviate pain, and rid themselves of disease.

The public is not as wary of fasting as in the past due to thousands, if not millions, of articles and people yelling in the streets about the benefits one can obtain from fasting on a regular basis (one day a week, one week a month, etc.).

A.J. Carlson, Professor of Physiology, University of Chicago claims that A healthy person can survive without food for 50-75 days, of course in the absence of health problems and emotional stress. The rationale behind this claim is that one human pound is worth 3,500 calories thus giving us a lot of time to go without food, especially Americans whose weight, collectively, is at an all time high. Even a pound of pure fat can supply the body with enough energy on a day with strenuous physical activity given that the body is well hydrated (a major concern when fasting).



Benefits

When done right fasting yields phenomenal benefits for the human body.

-Weight lose

-Disease elimination

-Toxin removal

-Waste reduction

-Cleansing of the intestinal tract (host of millions of toxins)

-Corrective balance of good bacteria in the gut

-Cleansing of diseased cells (cancer), dead cells, mucus

-Removal of mucus in the intestinal walls, liver, spleen, kidney, and blood stream

The body will hold on to the important minerals and vitamins that have been in the system all along but surrounded by these 'pests' mentioned above.



Afterwards

Because the body holds on to the minerals and vitamins, mentioned above, the fast will be even more beneficial once it is over. One will notice healthier skin, hair, and nails. The most amazing result from a fast, done correctly, is the huge amounts of energy and well being experienced immediately after the fast.



Why is the body able to do this?

The body needs ENORMOUS amounts of energy to digest food, which is why when we eliminate the food for a while (1-30 days) the body is allowed to focus on the diseases hidden within that it has 'meant to get to all along, but never had the time'.

-Fasting to overcome addictions to caffeine, nicotine, drugs, smoking, and alcohol

-Trying to lower cholesterol

-Fasting helps alleviate disorders in the gastrointestinal system like constipation, bloating, and gastritis.

-Fasting can also improve mental alertness because of the removal of toxins from the lymphatic system and blood stream.
