How to make your own NON-toxic mosquito repellent

For those of you in the South this is for you! I do not know much about the mosquito situation in other parts of the country, but down here they are a constant bother!

Hot wet Summers are not to inviting for most animals and bugs, but mosquitoes and other small flying pests LOVE it! So on top of being sweaty and miserable we all have to cope with these pests, literally clinging to us to survive.

So what can we do about this? The easiest, and most obvious, answer would be to remain inside safely sealed away from these blood sucking monsters. However, I am assuming most of us are not trust fund children and have responsibilities that most likely include leaving the safety of our homes to go out and earn a living (trust fund children please stop reading and go back to lounging).

While most people make a mad dash to the store to buy DEET or OFF spray I am warning NOT TO. Why? Because DEET is so.... toxic that if sprayed directly on plastic it will cause it to warp and bubble up. Not knowing, off the top of my head, what chemicals in DEET cause it to do this, I am just warning against putting this stuff on your (or your loved ones) skin.

Now, I am finished complaining about the bugs and complaining about the plastic warping bug repellent.... Want a solution?

ORGANIC Mosquito Repellent

1/3 cup Apple cider Vinegar
1/3 Cup Witch Hazel (or you can use a cheap vodka)
5 drops of Citronella or Eucalyptus oil (I prefer the latter)

You will need:

-A spray bottle
-A Funnel

You will need to do:

Please understand that this recipes is difficult and attention to detail should be paid, we tried to make it easy to understand but some things can only be simplified so much!

1. Pour all the ingredients in to the bottle
2. Shake
3. Spray on your skin (which will not bubble up and warp!)

Voila! Mosquitoes and all the other pests will think you smell so horrible thus making you not worthy of their presence!

*Please note this is not water proof and must be applied more than the name brand stuff, but hey it is organic and practically free (if you have the ingredients on hand).
